Ardent Flex vs Levo 2

LEVO 2 vs Ardent FLEX

The review I’ve eagerly awaited. An easier, more effiecient and less pungent process to create your own infusions. Though as I start this review note I’ve spent an EXTREME amount of time over the years getting to know my slow cooker and perfecting my infusions. So I’m slightly partial though will attempt to remain objective. I’ve also spent some time getting to know the famous Magical Butter machine. The 1st ever edible infusion product I can think of coming to market. Although this was a GREAT product to jump start the edible trend. I never liked the results. I could not vary the amount of smell or taste as it would pretty much liquify the medium making it harder to strain. Forward to now as the market starts opening up due to state legalizations. 2 savy business women have stepped up to the plate to challenge the MB. Shanel Lindsay, creator of the Ardent product line and Chrissy Bellman creator of the LEVO oil infusion system. Here we will put the latest additions in there growing line up of infusion products to the test. How will they hold up against each other ? Are they worth the hefty price tags ? Will they actually make me put away my slow cooker ??? Find out as we set them up for a full CanniVent review.

Ardent Flex (6 Leaves)

The Ardent Flex

Overall I’m surprisingly impressed with the Ardent flex. The appearance and form factor (especially the PURPLE color) are excellent. Now this did resemble my slow cooker so again I was skeptical considering what more could it do. Yet after using the Ardent you immediately notice there are fewer steps and way less time spent cleaning and monitoring your infusions (Especially with the additional silicone sleeve). So even though I can argue my process is very similar I cannot deny the fact that this is just easier. Set it and forget it with the optimal temps and timing. The only options the user must select is the medium you’ll use THC/CBG (A1) or CBD (A2) (The setting A1 or A2 applies different temps and times respectively for each material) and lastly the option to decarb or infuse. Very simple and intuitive. Once your infusion is done just strain and throw the canister (Not the base) in the washing machine and go. You can also purchase the optional Infusion Press to get the most out of your creation. With a growing line of accessories, add-ons and perfectly sized 4 ounce capacity the Ardent is a joy to use.

Now my issues with the Ardent though minor are focused almost solely on the touch controls. They’re either too responsive or require a slight pressure. I’ld rather a more push button feel as its too easy to go past the setting you want (Mind you there are only 4). Yet changing this could pose an issue with the Ardent’s being dish washer safe. Then there are the options, as I do like the no guesswork in using the Ardent I would like the option to make my own settings. So, all in all I can’t deny the effectiveness of Shanel Lindsay’s Ardent. Along with a supplied carry case (A real hard case, not a simple drawstring bag) that also turns it into the perfect portable all in one solution for making infused edibles on the go. Wether special event, get together, date night or on vacation all you need is an outlet. An did I forget to mention with or without any accessories you can also prepare small confections on the spot within its temp controlled oven. So I definitely recommend the Ardent Flex to anyone looking to get into the infusion game wether starting out or intermediate. Personal or business. Ardent Flex is simple and easy to use. Let’s you keep your mind on your recipe while it does the rest. A great looking product to keep on any countertop and easy enough to store without taking up space. The Ardent website is also crammed with relevant information to help you stay informed and continuously assist you in perfecting your creations with new recipes and tips. So after your purchase you won’t feel left in the dark with an over simplified manual that leaves you stumped.

LEVO 2 (6 Leaves)

Levo 2 Complete Bundle

The LĒVO 2 unlike the Ardent has many user adjustable settings allowing the user to dial in your entire infusion your way. From temp to time it’s all at your finger tips. This in my opinion adds a whole new level of customization to your end result. At the same time this adds some confusion. Creating the question of what settings to use for optimal extraction. Thus many hours of trial and error especially if you are new to infusions. It’s also a product you may not want to move around much due to its shape and size. Though almost certain it will complement any countertop or desktop with it’s trendy color options. Yet like the Ardent and anything that looks nice, get prepared for a question or two. Though most think its just a Keurig coffee maker 😝. Operation is very intuitive and accompanied with sound effects (resembling water drops) as soon as you turn it on. Now unlike the Ardent the Levo 2 uses Power Pods to hold your flower (7g max). So you loosely grind your flower and add it to the pod (don’t over stuff). Open the top and place it in the designated spot and close the lid. After this all options are lined up left to right in order of use. First choose what you want to do. The options are, Dry (for wet flower, not normally used for this type of infusion), Activate (aka Decarboxylate) or Infuse. After this move over one and set your preferred time (A suggested value is pre-set). Move to the next and set your temp (A suggested value is pre-set) and once that’s done press the last button that doubles as your power button to start. Only thing left to do is open the lid and add your oil/butter before you infuse. Plus unlike most infusers the Levo 2 does its own straining. No need having to find my usual Colador strainers. After this, clean up is fairly easy (once taken apart, as there are some mechanics to it) though unlike the Ardent the parts are NOT dish washer safe. Just make sure to pay attention when draining and releasing the inner reservoir or you’ll end up wasting some of your precious infusion. Now here, is where my 1st issue starts (I’ll save my 2nd issue for the final comparison). It is TOO easy to waste some of your infusion. Either from leftover usually forgotten in the drainage line or absorbed in the power pod. You can purchase the optional pod press accessory to assist. Though if you stay meticulous and aware of your process most waste can be avoided or minimized. Now did I forget to mention, these infusions are not solely THC treat related. You can infuse a wide variety of oils and more with rosemary, garlic, lemon zest etc. Making it a versatile addition to your culinary arsenal. The Levo 2 also has an accompanying app that allows for control of the unit and monitoring through the phone. Unfortunately this has not worked for me to date. While for me this is not a major issue as it works without it. It is disapointing I can’t take advantage of the extra features. So even with this, I do recommend the Levo 2 to anyone looking to go further in there infusions. People who want to take control for whatever reason this is for you.

Likes:

  • -Aesthetics (Similar to a Keurig)
  • -Easy to use
  • -Adjustable settings
  • -Self straining

Dislikes:

  • Wastes oil
  • -Only 7g (2xPods or French Press Method – Not Supported)
  • -Wifi connection/App

Now to compare the two, on paper I would have to choose the Levo 2 for its user friendly options and range of use. It really is unique. Yet despite the facts the Levo 2’s greatest disadvantage is the amount of flower you can use at any given time… 7 grams is what they support (Don’t attempt to over stuff as this may lead to scorching or not fully activating your flower). You can however either redo the process adding new flower each time for a higher ratio of THC. Though this will multiply the infusion times. Now you can also add a second pod to give you 14 grams total or use the French press method to use more flower without the pods. The results will vary and are not supported by Levo. Now the Ardent on the other hand allows you to use anything from 1 gram (or less technically) to 4 ounces at a time without the use of pods. So without turning into Petty Davis technically they will get you the same results yet in their own way and time. The Ardent Flex with its capacity, stealth and simplicity or the Levo 2’s extra options and self straining. One’s made to take with, while the other stays home. Without any additional purchases either unit will get you professional results. Adding an optional silicone sleeve and strainer will keep your Ardent clean and allow for easier straining of your Infusion. For the Levo 2 adding a pod press, extra pod and/or French press screen will give you full control of its functions. Thus in my opinion these are levels above the legendary Magical Butter Machine and while fighting for that number 1 spot still display unique differences that set them apart as apples and oranges in the home and culinary markets. If I had to choose a winner to satisfy this review it would have…
