So I’ve finished the initial payout to start this endeavor 🤯. Was gonna try to integrate it with this page, yet I can get a little impulsive when I get excited. Hence the time in posting. So here’s some of the aftermath.

First off, starting what I would call an intermediate to professional grow setup is “Not” cheap. Especially now with all the targeted marketing attempting to sway your decisions especially on sites like Amazon which did lead many great products yet a few duds as well. So I found and spent sometime creating a relationship with my local hydro shop Follow The Sun to help in purchases and knowledge.

In the end, left me wondering if I should have just “procured” a  pound or more 🤔 and relaxed lol. My purchasing process as always, was to stay cheap. There are many alternative companies that create great, efficient products at low cost, especially in this field 😝. So read along and do your own diligent research if this is too, is your plan.

Yes, most everyone likes cheap, yet I hate to make immediate upgrades due to lack of functionality, poor performance or products not working together and thus many tried and true products come into play. That as you would guess, now a days cost more. My aim was to create something I did not have to immediately change or upgrade, without spending a fortune.

Seeing as this can get extremely and sometimes unexpectedly expensive, lets stop, step away and stay grounded for a second and understand that a simple setup can actually comprise of nothing more than:

  1. A Light (The Sun)
  2. Growing medium (Earth)
  3. Flower pot (Earth)
  4. Seed (Your choice)
  5. Water (From the Earth)

So technically, you can get away with just finding a seed, placing it in the ground at the right spot and time, add water and after some time and more water… Wallah ! This same effect can easily work indoors at a slightly higher cost to create a similar natural environment with the addition of an optional small fan or 2 to mimic air circulation and or mylar/white paint for light reflection. Where as a more intermediate to professional setup takes the natural environment variables to the extreme and may add:

  1. Grow Tent/s
  2. Ventilation System/Ducting
  3. A/C
  4. Heater
  5. Humidifier
  6. Dehumidifier
  7. Specific Nutrients and Additives (Synthetic and/or Organic)
  8. Pest Killers (Synthetic and/or Organic)
  9. Tools (PH tester, Hygrometer, C02 meter etc.)
  10. Accessories (Seed trays, Hanging ropes, Timers etc.)

As you can see the list can get extremely long and even more expensive than I imagined entertaining. While a more professional setup can include:

  1. Irrigation / Self feeding setups
  2. C02 tanks/refills
  3. Constant Soil & Nutrient PH monitoring equipment
  4. Commercial air filtration
  5. Professional Hydroponics set ups

Yea, I’m gonna stop right there. I think you get the picture. Its a never ending journey you’ll love though your wallet may think different at first. Make sure you have a plan for immediate and future as this can drastically help wether you overspend or get something that will last and grow with you.

What are your thoughts ? What have or do you plan to purchase ? Anything to stay away from ?
